Ten years ago, Esther was deported. Not being able to return to the United States, Esther started her new life in Tijuana. Today she owns a tamale store and is actively engaged in community activities providing care for immigrants in Tijuana. For Esther, deportation changes immigrants’ lives but it cannot deprive them of their agency.
